ENGINEERING / BIM COORDINATION

BIM Coordination

Coordinate multi-discipline models on a shared datum and version baseline, locate clashes, and form deliverable engineering information.

What must be aligned before coordination

BIM coordination starts by aligning coordinates, elevations, discipline scope and model versions—before clash review and release—not by comparing “2D vs 3D” slogans.

Where it applies

  • Multi-discipline MEP and support coordination
  • Architecture / structure / MEP model federation checks
  • Installation relationships and maintenance boundaries

Inputs

  • Discipline models or drawings with version info
  • Shared coordinate and elevation datum
  • Support design scope and anchorage boundaries
  • Confirmed scheme or detailing premises

Outputs and boundaries

  • Issue list and adjustment notes
  • Coordinated model / relationship notes
  • Support detailing and delivery catalogue

Boundary: this page is not an online BIM viewer and does not invent unreviewed clash results or material quantities.

How multi-discipline models relate

The integrated model shows co-existing disciplines. The legend is static and does not simulate layer selection.

Locate, adjust and review issues

Selecting an issue updates the hotspot and the detail panel together. This is a method illustration, not an approved project conclusion.

From finding issues to release

Coordination is a closed loop: find issues, coordinate disciplines, update the model and review until releasable outputs exist. This module does not auto-rotate.

  1. Model input

Establish the coordination baseline from discipline models, coordinates and source data.

  2. Clash check

Check spatial relationships between architecture, structure, MEP and supports.

  3. Issue markup

Locate clashes and form traceable issue items.

  4. Coordination

Define adjustment principles, responsibility boundaries and sequence.

  5. Model update and support detailing

Adjust routing, elevations, nodes and supports, and confirm installation space.

  6. Review

Check the model again and confirm issue closure.

  7. Release

Form models, drawings and a delivery catalogue for engineering use.

How coordination results enter delivery

Delivery is explained as a readable catalogue. Material quantities are not replaced by tiny full-table bitmaps. Exact file formats follow project agreement.
